Diana Rigg, the actress of the series “Game of Thrones” – died on September 10 at the age of 82.
Rigg’s daughter said she passed away peacefully in her sleep. Minh Tinh was diagnosed with cancer in March. The actor’s best friend – Lionel Larner – expressed: “She has a kind heart and is a great actress”.
In the 1960s, she was best known for her role as a smart spy Emma Peel in the series The Avengers. She appeared in 51 episodes, was nominated for a consecutive Emmy award in 1967 – 1968. But, the actor is better known by young fans through the role of “old fox” Olenna Tyrell, appearing in five cult series . Performing her role at the age of 70, she was continuously nominated for an Emmy from 2013 to 2015, and in 2018.
Rigg made his film debut in 1957 with The Caucasian Chalk Circle. Her other films were A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1968), T he Great Muppet Caper (1981), and Evil Under the Sun (1982).
In 1969, the actress was admired as Countess Teresa di Vicenzo – James Bond’s wife, in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. In 1989, she won the BAFTA Best Actress Award for the BBC short series Mother Love . A few years later, she received the Emmy Award for her role as Mrs. Danvers in Rebecca (1997). After a lot of success in the film industry, in 2016 she appeared in You, Me and the Apocalypse , then lived in secret.
She also made many marks on the stage. In 1971, Diana Rigg debuted Broadway with Abelard & Heloise .
