The 2019 United States Open Championship is the 139th U.S. Open, and the final Grand Slam tournament of the year. The players will compete outdoor over a series of 15 hard courts at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City. The tournament consists of men’s and women’s singles, doubles draws and mixed doubles. This year, Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka are the singles defending champions.
Experts says that Novak Djokovic could win a 17th Grand Slam title as Open US champion. All eyes are on Djokovic in the final major of the year in New York, where he has been champion three times after 2011, 2015 and 2018. Last year, he defeated Juan Martin del Potro to claim the winning title. Recently, Djokovic won his fifth Wimbledon title after beating Roger Federer which cemented him as the best and most dominant player in men’s tennis.
Rafael Nadal is seeking his fourth title after 2010, 2013 and 2017. Last year, he lost the second set when competing del Potro in the semifinals.
The last player of the Big Three, Roger Federer, is also determine to win his sixth title. The 37-year-old player lost Djokovic in 2015 and defeated by John Millman in the fourth round last year.
Fans are also waiting for the com back of Andy Murray after his announcement that he might able to comeback on court in time playing singles in this US Open Tournament.
Former world number one player, Andy Murray, has not played since losing in the Australian Open in January, after which he underwent a hip surgery. He said that he has been through some singles practice sessions and he was pretty pain free now.
The 32-year-old Scot has been playing doubles in recent tournament. He won the Queen’s title with Fernando Verdas, teamed up with Serena Williams in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon and reached the third round.
